IT Decommissioning - Server Removal
What Enterprise Teams Get

Three Things We Guarantee on Every Project

Reliability and compliance, not marketing speak. Here is exactly what you can hold us to.

1. We show up on schedule

Booked access windows, a named project lead, and a fixed plan agreed up front — including out-of-hours and weekend change windows. No half-finished pickups, no room left full of kit waiting on paperwork.

2. Certified enterprise destruction

Data-bearing media erased to NIST SP 800-88 Rev.2 or physically shredded, aligned with GDPR and current NCSC secure sanitisation guidance. A serialised certificate for every drive and a full chain-of-custody audit trail.

3. We pay for residual value

Servers, storage, and networking hardware with resale value are recovered and you receive a transparent share — often offsetting the cost of the project. See our asset recovery & buyback.

UK chain of custody. No offshore brokering.

Every asset is logged by serial number, transported under chain of custody by our Environment Agency registered carrier, and processed at our licensed UK facility in Mitcham — never sold on to an untracked offshore broker. You can reconcile what left site against what was destroyed and what was recovered. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see what actually happens to your servers.

What this service produces beyond removal

The decommissioning work is only one part of the job. Enterprise teams usually need documented handover, serialised tracking, and compliance evidence that stands up to audit after the hardware has left site.

Before Collection

Scope notes, RAMS, site access planning, and change-window coordination for facilities and IT teams.

At Handover

Tagged asset logs, photographic records where required, and documented transfer into licensed transport.

After Processing

Certificates of destruction or sanitisation, WEEE paperwork, and reporting suitable for audit packs and internal sign-off.

Case Study: 200-Seat Office Move in Canary Wharf

"We cleared a redundant floor of networking gear and 250 workstations over a single weekend. All data was destroyed off-site within 24 hours, and the client received a full WEEE audit trail before Monday morning."

Frequently Asked Questions

Key details about our IT Decommissioning service.

What is included in your decommissioning scope?

Scope includes survey and planning, safe hardware disconnection, rack and cable clearance, asset tagging (with optional photographic logging), and secure tamper-evident packing for licensed, GPS-tracked transport.

Will decommissioning disrupt live operations?

Work is scheduled around your access windows and operational constraints to minimise disruption. Live systems are never touched without written approval, and engineers follow strict site SOPs throughout.

Do you provide data destruction?

Yes. Data-bearing media is processed under GDPR and NIST SP 800-88 Rev.2 controls, with serialised Certificates of Destruction or Sanitisation suitable for audit and compliance records.

What happens to equipment after decommissioning?

Data-bearing media are erased or physically destroyed with full certification. Viable assets entering reuse or resale are fully de-branded and factory-reset — labels removed, accounts unlinked, MDM unenrolled, BIOS cleared. Remaining equipment is recycled in compliance with the UK WEEE Regulations 2013 (as amended, including 2025).

Fit Guidance

When this service is not the right fit

Not built for consumer jobs

TFix is a corporate-only ITAD provider. We do not handle household device removals or consumer repair enquiries.

Not ideal for unplanned one-device disposal

If you only need ad hoc destruction of a single device with no project scope, this page is likely more process than you need.

Best when access can be coordinated

This service works best for planned moves, refreshes, and clearance windows where site access, approvals, and documentation matter.
