Careers at TFix

Old tech in. Better tech out.

We repair, refurbish and resell surplus IT — and we’re quietly obsessive about the paperwork that proves it.

No fuss. No jargon. Just work that’s done properly by the end of the day.

What it’s like to work here

Small team. Big standards. Zero pretence.

No performative culture. Just a workshop, a kettle, and a job that’s actually done at the end of the day.

Lean operations

No ping-pong tables

There’s a forklift and a barcode scanner. That’s the culture.

Long-term thinking

Doing this since 2008

We were refurbishing before it had a name.

Ethical and transparent

We’re conservative

We keep receipts. We keep paperwork. We keep audit trails. It’s who we are, and we make no apology for it.

Problem solving

Real responsibility, day one

You won’t be the “ideas person”. You’ll be the person who made the certificate match the serial number.

Hard work

We work hard here

It’s hard work and we don’t dress it up. If you want an easy ride, this isn’t it.

Open to ideas

Opinions welcome

If you see a better way, say it. We’re stubborn, not deaf.

Family atmosphere

It’s a family shop

The founder works alongside you, and kids are around some days — his, and some of the team’s. You’ll need to be cool with that.

Sensible dress code

Dress code: sensible

Hi-vis on the floor. That’s the whole policy.

Always open to good people

The kinds of people we keep hiring

We don’t run a revolving door of adverts. When someone capable turns up, we make room.

WEEE & Warehouse Technician Warehouse & WEEE

Triage, testing, cleaning, and grading kit for repair and resale. You’ll learn what a WEEE cage is and then never stop noticing them.

Driver & Collections Logistics

GPS-tracked vans, sealed transport, polite paperwork. You’ll become fluent in “goods-in windows”.

ITAD Ops & Data Destruction Operations

Data erasure and serialised certificates. You’ll hold NIST 800-88 closer than most people hold their phones.

Admin & Customer Ops Customer support

Bookings, chain of custody, client comms. You’ll be the calm voice when someone says “it’s just 40 laptops”.

Repair & Engineering Engineering

Diagnostics, refurb, buyback-grade testing. You’ll fix the laptop someone swore was “beyond saving”.

Something else entirely?

If you’re good and you care, we’ll find a drawer for you.

How we hire

Quick, and honest about the boring bits

Mostly sorted within a week or two. We’d rather be quick than clever.

1

You send us a note

No CV required. Tell us what you’d actually like to do. We read every genuine one.

2

A cup of tea and a chat

We’ll meet you at the yard, show you around, and be straight about the less glamorous bits.

3

A trial that respects your time

You’ll know quickly if it’s a fit. No eight-round interview loops.

The good stuff

Perks. The real kind.

  • Unlimited tea — the kettle is sacred. Biscuits depend on the week we’re having.
  • Real responsibility — trusted with the job from day one. No endless shadowing.
  • Meetings that end — agenda, decision, done. Usually under ten minutes.
  • A party trick — you’ll know a data-destruction standard. People actually ask.
  • Pallet-wrap proficiency — you’ll learn to wrap a pallet so well it survives the M25.
A day at TFix

What a normal day looks like

First up

Plan & paperwork

Day starts at the boards — who’s on what — then the paperwork gets done first. WTNs, labels, the lot.

Then

Shipping

Outbound goes out on time. Packed, labelled, and accounted for.

Mid-morning

Sorting

Intake gets triaged — what’s resale, what’s for parts, what’s for the school run.

Afternoon

Repair

Bench time. Diagnose, fix, and clean until it earns a listing.

End of day

Listing & returns

Refurbs get listed, returns get dealt with. Nothing waits until tomorrow.

Questions people actually ask

Are there actual open roles at TFix?

We hire when the right person appears, so roles aren’t always advertised. Send a short note and your CV through the contact form and we’ll read it.

Do I need previous ITAD or WEEE experience?

No. Common sense, attention to detail, and caring about doing things properly matter more. We train on the standards, the processes, and the paperwork.

What’s the team actually like?

Busy, quietly dry-humoured, and thorough. The founder works alongside you, and there’s a kettle, a forklift, and a lot of spreadsheets.

What’s the hiring process like?

You send a note through the contact form (choose Careers), we invite you for a cuppa and a look around, then a short trial. Usually sorted within a week or two. No eight-round interviews.

Don’t fit a mould?

Send us a short note anyway.

The best hires here never matched the job advert — mainly because we rarely write one. Tell us what you’d do and why.
