Device Value Checker: See What Your Old IT Is Worth In A Minute

Most teams do not know what their retired IT is actually worth until a quote arrives. The number depends on make, model, condition, working state, and what buyers are paying this week — and those details are hard to pin down from a spreadsheet alone.
That is why we built the Device Value Checker: a free tool that turns a few photos of a device into an instant recyclability score, a damage assessment, a market-demand level, and an indicative resale range in GBP.

What Is My Old IT Worth?
The honest answer is: it depends on four things working together.
- Make and model — some models hold value; others are only worth their materials.
- Working state — the single biggest factor. A confirmed-working unit sets the baseline; an untested unit is worth roughly 40–60% of that; a non-working unit is worth parts or repair value only.
- Condition and completeness — screen damage, missing parts, or a missing charger all reduce value.
- Current market demand — what buyers are actually paying right now, checked against live listings.
The checker weighs all four together into a single 0–100 recyclability score, so you get a quick, honest read before you commit to resale, reuse, or recycling.

How The Score Is Calculated
The final score is a weighted average of four sub-scores:
- Market demand (30%) — how quickly this model sells today.
- Physical condition (30%) — visible damage and working state.
- Resale value (25%) — tied to the price actually returned, so an untested device scores lower on resale.
- Completeness (15%) — chargers, parts, and accessories.
Because condition and resale are linked to working state, the tool never assumes a device works unless it is confirmed. If the working state is unknown, the device is treated as untested — and priced accordingly.
How The Payout Estimate Works
The "you could receive" figure is not a random number. It is a transparent share of the estimated resale price, shown step by step on the results screen.
Here is a worked example, using a device the tool priced at an estimated resale value of £160:
- The item sells for £160.
- Take off 20% VAT: £133.
- Take off the platform's selling and advertising fees (about 24%): £102.
- Take off postage and shipping (£8.50): £93.
- The remaining £93 is split 70/30 — the shop keeps £28, and you receive £65.
That 30% covers listing the item for sale, cleaning and testing it, storing it until it sells, advertising, answering customer questions, packaging, and dealing with returns. The exact numbers on your result will always be shown in full, so you can see precisely how the figure was reached.

How To Use It
- Add up to six photos, including any serial-number sticker.
- Choose whether the device powers on and whether a charger is included.
- Click Check my device and review the score, damage grade, and resale range.
- Use the estimate to decide between resale, reuse, or recycling — then request a formal quote.
Photos are processed in memory and discarded afterwards. Nothing is stored, and no account is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the recyclability score calculated?
The score combines four AI-assessed sub-scores — market demand, physical condition, resale value, and completeness — into a weighted average computed on the server for consistency.
Are my uploaded photos stored?
No. Photos are resized in memory, sent to the AI model for evaluation, and then discarded. Nothing is saved to disk and no account is required.
Is this a formal valuation?
No. The result is an indicative estimate to help you understand recyclability and resale potential. Contact TFix for a formal quote based on your full inventory and condition.
